Education Specialist/Community Liaison
A degree is desired in education, social work or related field and/or 2 years minimum experience in public speaking preferably for non-profit organizations.
Areas of Responsibility:
Meet all agency and funding source target levels per grant period in Jefferson, Orange and Hardin counties as appropriate
Preview, screen visual aids and present sexual assault/awareness/prevention/general crisis, human sex trafficking prevention/awareness programs to schools, church groups or any other group requesting a speaker, assist in the training through the Office of the Attorney General’s Certified Volunteer Training Program of grant funded staff and un-paid volunteers who provide direct sexual assault survivor services, facilitate the community collaboration with Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel, CASA, Mickey MaHaffey’s Garth House, local child advocacy center, District Attorney’s Office, Victim’s Assistance Centers through the Sexual Assault Response Team and the Human Trafficking Focus Group (includes sex trafficking
Research/develop as needed and maintain sexual assault awareness/prevention Curriculum for the Education Program based on grant funding requirements, develop new contacts in the community to enhance the education/awareness of sexual assault in the service delivery area based on each program
Help cover hot line shifts for sexual assault and/or crisis calls, act as a backup for volunteers and staff during the daytime, night-time and weekend if necessary to provide services to sexual assault and survivors their family members and those who are in
Advertise the Crisis Center’s services quarterly for sexual assault survivors or as needed via social media, radio, television and newspaper, attend specialized training on sexual assault awareness/prevention via webinar or in person to enhance sexual assault crisis intervention/education/awareness skills, as collect statistical data on speaking engagements which includes information on sexual assault/awareness/prevention/professional trainings including number attending, date, presentation, and contact person with phone number and data enter information on computer and complete statistical reports for all funding sources as necessary
Facilitate the Sexual Assault /Response Team quarterly and Human/Sex Trafficking Task Force bi annually or as necessary. Collaborate with Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel, CASA, Mickey MaHaffey’s Garth House, local child advocacy center, District Attorney’s Office, Victim’s Assistance Centers in the provision of Professional Education/Awareness programs.
Develop new educational contacts in the community to enhance the education/awareness of sexual assault in the service delivery area based on each program requirement
Update Curriculum binder annually and create new objectives for educational programs
Perform other duties as suggested by the Executive Director or designee
