Survivors who choose to undergo a forensic medical examination at a hospital have the right to be accompanied by a state-certified advocate. The Crisis Center of Southeast Texas provides trained advocates 24/7, free of charge, to offer support throughout this process. Once notified by the hospital that a survivor has arrived or is en route, our center immediately dispatches an advocate to respond. The advocate remains present for the duration of the exam and offers comprehensive support services to the survivor, as well as to any accompanying friends or family members.
